Part of Godine's series of translations of world literature, this novel from the author of Double Jeopardy (LJ 4/1/93) is a complicated spoof of spy novels with a distinctly European flavor. Suzy, the young wife of a traveling government employee, discovers that her husband has vanished during the course of their move to a new apartment. Her story becomes entangled with that of Chopin, an entomologist and sometime secret agent. Echenoz is a funny, literate writer with good characters and enough of a mystery to move the story along well. This may be popular with American readers who have a taste for contemporary European fiction.?Ann H. Fisher, Radford P.L., Va. Copyright 1995 Reed Business Information, Inc.
